CHIEFTEC design L-type case with LCD VESA mount

By: (more) | Posted: Nov 12, 2008 3:12 am

Well reknowned chassis builder CHIEFTEC has just let loose some images and details covering its new L-type chassis which certainly gets instant points as far as 'being different' goes.

This case is of the all-in-one DIY type which allows monitors between 19 and 24" to be mounted to the front of it via a standard VESA mount with height adjustment possible. The internal space of the enclosure allows for both mATX and full sized ATX motherboards along with room for seven PCI slots, three 3.5" hdds and a single 5.25" bay for optical use.

Dimensions come in at 255mm x 370mm x 418mm with a weight of 6Kg. Cooling doesn't appear to be great with a single 120mm fan for exhaust and an array of air holes on either side and at the rear, but then it's not the sort of chassis gamers are likely to pick and would be better suited as an official terminal or some such.

As also mentioned by the source, you can see in the above screenshot that the 'rear' ports face the left side of the enclosure, which would make it near impossible to hide all that messy cabling.

CHIEFTEC have stated the L-type chassis to be ready for shipping by January'09 at a price point of around £50.
