GIGABYTE kick off Core i7 with WR Vantage run

By: (more) | Posted: Nov 3, 2008 1:37 am

In timely fashion with the imminent launch of Core i7 (Nehalem) today, GIGABYTE has kicked it off in true style with an astonishing 3DMark Vantage run that smashes anything seen before, putting it on top of the ORB as the new world record result... until the best overclockers in the world get their hands on the hardware and take things even higher, that is.

Using their EX58-UD5 motherboard, they achieved a run of P31988 using Tri SLI GTX 280s and a Core i7 Extreme 965 processor operating at a whopping 5GHz. Oh how I wish I had deeper pockets....

Stick around, the official launch is right on top of us and you can bet there'll be mass coverage everywhere.
