NVIDIA shifts to 40nm GPUs in Q2 2009

We've been hearing mumblings about NVIDIA's shift to 40nm GPUs and, today, Fudzilla has shared some information regarding a possible timeframe for this move.

NVIDIA shifts to 40nm GPUs in Q2 2009

It is claimed, that Santa Clara, CA based NVIDIA will introduce a 40nm line-up in Q2 2009, putting this in more or less the same timeframe as AMD's Little Dragon, the RV870.

What is rumoured to be holding NVIDIA back, is that TSMC is unable to ready the GPUs until Q2 2009.

The article cites that this is a rather precarious position for NVIDIA as it will be unable to prepare or even, counteract, AMD's RV870 GPU and if its offering ends up slower than AMD's, it could have an undesirable impact on NVIDIA's outlook.

With GPU wars shifting into 40nm mode, 2009 has real potential to overshadow the big GPU duels of this year.
