AMD to tackle NVs 96/98GT head-on with HD 4830

News is beginning to circulate that AMD is planning to launch an RV770LE based graphics card series next month, dubbed the Radeon HD 4830. There should be quite a few varying models of it with higher than stock clockspeeds and aftermarket coolers as the cards will be built by the AIBs.

The cards will be aimed squarely at tackling NVIDIA's existing GeForce 9600 and 9800GTs. As far as specs go, we're only told that it has 480 stream processors. I'm sure we'll be hearing much more closer to launch.
