DICE unveils Battlefield V 'Firestorm' battle royale trailer

EA and DICE didn't have the greatest trailer to Battlefield V before it launched, but it seems like they've worked things out for the huge release of Firestorm, the new battle royal injection into the Frostbite-powered FPS.

The new teaser trailer to Firestorm is made as a cinematic within the game's engine, but DICE decided to not show any gameplay which is super disappointing. Still, the trailer is energetic with 'Burning Down The House' playing in the background from the legendary Tom Jones.

EA has confirmed that Firestorm will launch on March 25 with large 64-player matches in both solo and 4-player teams. The incredible Frostbite engine powers it all, with massively destructible environments that will mark a well-needed change in battle royale games for increased mayhem and immersion.

Sony rumors of acquiring GTA/RDR parent company are wrong

Anthony Garreffa | Gaming | Mar 14, 2019 8:25 PM CDT

No, Sony isn't buying Take-Two Interactive. Period. This news floated out as a very sloppy rumor, with Market Watch reporting that Wedbush Securities analyst Joel Kulina saying Sony was in "advanced board level discussions to acquire Take-Two Interactive in a mostly cash deal".

Sony rumors of acquiring GTA/RDR parent company are wrong

Yeah well, that's not happening. GameSpot reached out to Kulina, who said he was frustrated over what he says was a "misquote" that had him "bombarded with calls" about his comment. Kulina said: "There is nothing behind this story that I've seen. No one has found a source. Market chatter refers to simply what we hear on trading desks--happens daily, just more surprised this has gone viral like it has".

No matter if the rumor was right or wrong as it saw Take-Two stock surge 7% at the time, but remember that the company also teased Borderlands 3 within the same time frame which can be tied to the Take-Two stock increasing.

BioWare: We're listening, Anthem is here to stay

Anthem players and critics are laying on the pressure en masse, and BioWare finally responds to outline what's going on with the messy service game.

BioWare: We're listening, Anthem is here to stay

BioWare's big new live game Anthem didn't explode in the right way; instead of rocketing to the stars, it's engines failed and it crashed to the ground quite hard. Now the fanbase is fed up and have filled the game's subreddit with tons of posts about loot fixes, bugs and glitches, and lots of missing features (the loot issue is so bad that Anthem players are boycotting the game).

This has transformed the game into something that's more fun to talk about and gawk at than to actually play. This has been demoralizing on the developers, who typically stay out of big conversations to avoid the fusillade of frustrated messages. But BioWare isn't ready to give up on Anthem just yet.

The developers behind the original Left 4 Dead are making a new spiritual successor, and they're committed to one-upping L4D in every way.

Today Turtle Rock Studios announced Back 4 Blood, a new shooter with strong ties to the studio's popular 2008 zombie survival shooter. Back 4 Blood isn't a direct sequel to the Left 4 Dead games, and is instead set in a brand new AAA IP established alongside Warner Bros. Interactive. The game sounds very close to L4D, sporting co-op multiplayer and a campaign mode, and will undoubtedly build upon Turtle Rocks' FPS prowess to create something both recognizable and brand new.

Borderlands 3 isn't the only game Gearbox is working on

Derek Strickland | Gaming | Mar 14, 2019 4:05 PM CDT

Game dev is hardly a linear process, but a heavily iterative one, and studios typically work on a few projects at a time. Gearbox is no different, and they may reveal a brand new game alongside Borderlands 3 at PAX East.

Borderlands 3 isn't the only game Gearbox is working on

Borderlands 3 has been in development for years now and Gearbox is finally ready to show it off. But it's got another surprise up its sleeve, too. Yesterday the studio teased a new game reveal for its PAX East showcase, and it looks to be some sort of sci-fi game with cyborgs and/or robots.

Next to nothing is known about the project, but if it's a new game and not just a teaser for the next Borderlands, it probably won't release this year unless it's a smaller-scale game instead of a big AAA affair.. Since the studio was working on this hypothetical game alongside Borderlands 3, it's probably built with Unreal Engine 4 like BL3 and may use many of the same assets, animations, and content. And it should also have Borderlands' explosively goofy sense of humor.

Mortal Kombat 11 is just around the corner and an interview with the games story director has revealed how long players can expect the campaign to be.

Mortal Kombat 11's main campaign is only 8 hours long

NetherRealm's story director, Dominic Cianciolo has sat down with Gamereactor to chat about his personal experiences developing Mortal Kombat 11 and also what players can expect campaign wise. Cianciolo is asked if Mortal Kombat is a single-player focusses fighting game, his response was; "You know, I'm not sure why that is but all the data bears out the fact that our single player mode is one of our most popular ways for people to access and experience the game and that's a big reason as to why we spend so much time and energy into making that single player experience as robust as it is."

Cianciolo is then asked if there has ever been a moment within the development studio that a fatality has been 'too much' and a line has been crossed. Cianciolo responds with; "I think there functionally is a limit. I can't give a specific example off the top of my head but I know we've had conversations where someone has gone "is that too much?" and we've just collectively agreed that "yeah, it's indeed too much" and then they'll dial it back and change it so it works."

Dying Light 2 is so BIG it will need multiple playthroughs

Jak Connor | Gaming | Mar 14, 2019 4:00 AM CDT

The parkour-based zombie title Dying Light 2 will be so big that players will need multiple playthroughs to fully grasp and see everything within the game.

Dying Light 2 is so BIG it will need multiple playthroughs

For players that don't know what will be in-store with Dying Light 2, the developers, Techland have integrated a new choice system that will cause players' choices to have ripple effects across the entire game. Meaning that when players make decisions such as choosing to side with a specific group or faction, this choice will impact how the rest of the game is played and furthermore how the player will interact with the occupants throughout future gameplay. Choices are now vital in Dying Light 2 and Techland and specifically building their new game around that.

According to Dying Light 2's producer, Kornel Jaskula in a new exclusive interview with Gamesrader, players will have to do multiple playthroughs of the game to be able to see everything that has been created for the game. Jaskula describes it as "It's almost like we are creating several games worth of content right now. We are designing the game with the foundation that some of the players will miss content and we are okay with that." The reason for Techland being ok with the players going to miss content is because the developers believe that many players will want to re-play the game to experience pathways that they didn't experience before.

A Zelda fan made their very own batch of 'Lon Lon Milk'

The Legend of Zelda community is quite the passionate one and it appears that one of the fans just couldn't pass up the idea of creating their very own batch of Lon Lon Milk. Reddit user Evermillion81 posted an image to the /r/Zelda sub-reddit, the image showcased a home made bottle of Lon Lon Milk and the label representing that of the one in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

For those that don't necessarily know what Lon Lon milk is; Lon Lon milk is one of Link's favorite drinks and only appears in a select amount of Legend of Zelda games. Originally debuting as a refillable item in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Lon Lon Milk also appears in The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, The Minish Cap. It also appears in the Super Smash Bros. series as a taunt from Link, and as food item in Hyrule Warriors Legends.
