Mortal Kombat 11 Switch gameplay trailer shows story mode

NetherRealm Studios is back at it again with yet another trailer, this time we have the Nintendo Switch gameplay trailer that showcases some new story mode scenes.

Mortal Kombat 11 Switch gameplay trailer shows story mode

Almost two weeks ago now, Mortal Kombat Director for NetherRealm Studios, Ed Boon was asked about the Nintendo Switch version of Mortal Kombat 11. The main question that Switch users were dying to find out was if the game was going to run at 30FPS or 60FPS, according to Boon "Switch version is going to run at 60FPS." With that question answered, the next would be how much have NetherRealm downscaled the graphics to hit that solid 60FPS. Now we get a chance to look at the Switch gameplay.

Judging from the above gameplay video, Mortal Kombat 11 has definitely been downscaled graphically across the board to account for the hardware limitations of the Nintendo Switch. We can notice that the backgrounds during the fights aren't as well lit, and neither is the detail on each of the fighters. Honestly, I would rather NetherRealm sacrifice graphics for performance if that means Mortal Kombat 11 runs at a smooth 60FPS. Mortal Kombat 11 releases on the Xbox One, PS4, PC and Nintendo Switch on April 23.

Mortal Kombat 11 - Shao Kahn can taunt players 'You Suck!'

In the new reveal trailer for Mortal Kombat 11's Shao Kahn we are introduced to not only some brutal moves by Outworlds ruler but also a hilarious taunt.

Mortal Kombat 11 - Shao Kahn can taunt players 'You Suck!'

We are less then a week out from the launch of Mortal Kombat 11, and NetherRealm Studios has not been slowing down with the reveal trailers they are releasing onto their Mortal Kombat YouTube Channel. This time round we have Shao Kahn, the emperor of Outworld and even though he might be an enemy, I'm certainly not disappointed with his moveset or taunt choices.

Shao Kahn carries what seems to be an oversized meat pulverizer for a weapon, and from the above video you can see that he knows how to use it. Shao Kahn uses a combination of moderately quick attacks that deal a considerable amount of damage, chaining together bone breaking string attacks that seem to just overwhelm his opponent. Just like most other reveal trailers, we get to see the fatality at the end, I won't describe what happens here so watch it to find out. Mortal Kombat 11 is planned for release on the Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC. It will be debuting on April 23rd.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate version 3.0 is live, patch notes

Jak Connor | Gaming | Apr 18, 2019 1:00 AM CDT

The big version 3.0.0 update has arrived for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, we now have a bunch of changes including the addition of the first DLC fighter, Persona's Joker.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate version 3.0 is live, patch notes

As announced yesterday, version 3.0.0 has now been made live and Nintendo have provided some official patch notes. Yesterday's announcement revealed that version 3.0.0 would not only contain Persona 5's Joker, but also Stage Builder, Shared Content, Smash World, and more. Nintendo has also issued out some balance changes to a very long list of fighters, while also making some tweaks to the base gameplay of how all fighters interact with each other.

Judging from the patch notes, Nintendo have decided to basically reduce the damage output of certain attacks against shields across the board. Perhaps shield breaks were become all to common in Ultimate, which in turn would slow down the gameplay. Personally, playing the game extensively myself I would agree that some attacks from certain fighters carry what could be considered as too much damage onto shield. Experiencing a heavy amount of damage on shield forces you to retreat or at least back off slightly due to players not wanting to risk a shield break.

PlayStation 5 will have 'appealing' price, next-gen specs

Anthony Garreffa | Gaming | Apr 17, 2019 11:28 PM CDT

Now that we have some concrete details on the PlayStation 5 like the fact it'll be powered by AMD's next-generation CPU and GPU architectures, something that will help drive the possibilities of 4K 60FPS in, well... everything.

PlayStation 5 will have 'appealing' price, next-gen specs

During a recent interview with Wired, PlayStation architect Mark Cerny talked about Sony using AMD's new Zen 2 CPU inside of the PS5 as well as a custom version of Radeon Navi, both on 7nm. This will provide the PS5 with the single largest generational upgrade in hardware, ever. This horsepower will surely come at a cost, which is something Cerny didn't address in the Wired interview.

Since that interview Peter Rubin tweeted out some additional words on his original article at Wired, tweeting about what Cerny said when the price of the PS5 was bought up. Cerny said in regards to the price of the next-gen PlayStation 5: "I believe that we will be able to release it at an SRP [suggested retail price] that will be appealing to gamers in light of its advanced feature set".

Samsung's new Galaxy Fold screen breaks on FIRST day of use

Samsung's new Galaxy Fold isn't quite available yet but the company has worked closely with reviewers and influencers hooking them up with some of the first handsets to the public. Well, it didn't go so good, and by 'not going so good' we mean some of them had their screens break on the first day.

Samsung's new Galaxy Fold screen breaks on FIRST day of use

The first Galaxy Fold review units that were sent out broke in the first day of use in the hands of people like Steve Kovach from CNBC, popular YouTuber MKBHD, Bloomberg, and The Verge. So you can see a blend of YouTubers, mainstream media, and big tech sites. There is reportedly a layer on top of the Galaxy Fold's display that is not a screen protector, and users are warned not to remove it. Well, some have tried and in MKBHD's own words he got only a little way of peeling it off before the "display spazzed and blacked out".

The thing is that Samsung actually has a 'wrap' over the screen on the Galaxy Fold that warns: "The main screen includes a special protective layer. Peeling off the protective layer or using any adhesives on the main screen, such as screen protectors or stickers, may cause damage". Ouch.

Carl's Jr. testing CBD-infused burger in Denver on 4/20

Anthony Garreffa | Business, Financial & Legal | Apr 17, 2019 10:13 PM CDT

In something that is totally new tech-related, Carl's Jr. has announced it will be selling a CBD-infused burger at one of its locations in Denver, on 4/20.

Carl's Jr. testing CBD-infused burger in Denver on 4/20

CBD is all over the place in the US now as more states legalize it, and the industry is quickly growing as a whole including a now major fast food chain in the US with Carl's Jr. and the first CBD-infused burger. The burger in question is the Rocky Mountain High: CheeseBurger Delight features two beef patties, pickled jalapenos, pepper jack cheese, waffle fries and then around 5mg of hemp-derived CBD extract in the burger chain's Santa Fe Sauce.

The burger will of course sell for $4.20, while Carl's Jr. will have at least 1000 of them to sell. Denver, Colorado was the first US state to legalize marijuana, so it's fitting that Carl's Jr. uses the state to sell the first CBD-infused burger. Carl's Jr. senior vice president of marketing, Patty Trevino, explains: "We are a West Coast brand. The states out in the West Coast have been the ones to really adopt and appreciate and be open to cannabis".

Next-gen Switch delayed past 2019, reports say

Derek Strickland | Gaming | Apr 17, 2019 6:39 PM CDT

Nintendo plans to release two new Switch systems aimed at different consumer segments: a beefier Switch Pro with expanded hardware and upgraded specs, and a cheaper Switch Lite that should replace the 3DS. Now reports say the Switch Pro model has been delayed due to technical difficulties.

Next-gen Switch delayed past 2019, reports say

Nintendo's new enthusiast Switch, dubbed the Switch Pro, isn't just an iterative refresh like Sony's PlayStation 4 Pro. Sources say it's a big jump over the existing Switch handheld-console hybrid, and will be a true next-gen variant of the transformable system. Past reports said the Switch Pro would get a new Tegra SoC for boosted processing power and double system memory at 8GB of LPDDR4 RAM.

But according to Japanese publication Nikkei, this hardware leap is causing problems. The system is drawing too much power, which could affect thermals. Nintendo can't get power consumption right with the new hardware--something it struggled with while developing the first Switch. The Switch Pro's components may get too hot while in handheld mode or docked for home use. Nintendo has also had issues getting the OS to run on the latest iteration. This setback has led to a delay past 2019, sources tell the website.
