The new 4-episode series is called Un-filtered and will be on Instagram's own IGTV channel, on both its mobile app and the internet. The new unscripted TV series will see Hill interview people aged between 13-25 about bullying, both online and in real-life.

Hill said in a statement: "It was an incredible experience to direct this project. I tried to create an environment for young people to be heard and listened to. I wish there was a platform to hear other's struggles and experiences when I was growing up. I hope that this will be inspiring for young people to share their stories and feelings and not feel so alone".

PlayStation 5 Pro rumored to launch alongside regular PS5

Anthony Garreffa | Gaming | Sep 19, 2019 7:14 PM CDT

Microsoft will most likely launch a family of next-gen Xbox consoles in its Xbox Scarlett family, and I'm hoping we will continue to see lower-end offerings in the Xbox One S and Xbox One X once Scarlett launches -- but what about Sony?

PlayStation 5 Pro rumored to launch alongside regular PS5

Most people are expecting Sony to launch one console, the new PlayStation 5 -- but according to the latest rumors we might see a base PS5 console joined by a higher-end PS5 console that could be called PlayStation 5 Pro, or something else entirely.

Japanese journalist Zenji Nishikawa reports that Sony will launch a base PlayStation 5 joined by a higher-end PlayStation 5 Pro model, instead of launching a base console following up with the Pro variant like it did with the PlayStation 4, and then PlayStation 4 Pro.

David Lynch inspired Control's bizarre visuals and surreal overtones

Derek Strickland | Gaming | Sep 19, 2019 6:33 PM CDT

As if it needed to be said, Remedy confirms its strange new game Control was directly influenced by Twin Peaks director David Lynch.

David Lynch inspired Control's bizarre visuals and surreal overtones

Even when Control was first announced we could identify the exact vibe Remedy was going for. I described it as The Twilight Zone meets Twin Peaks meets The X-Files, and that comparison still stands today. It's a monument to all sorts of pop culture influences, melded together in a strange brew, a fever dream of weirdness. In many ways it's like travelling to another dimension that doesn't follow the rules of logic, reason, or general physics--it bends the mind and contorts expectations, creating something unique.

Now Remedy discusses how its aesthetics, tone, and visuals came to be, citing influences from Kubric, Lynch, and even FromSoftware's hard-as-nails Dark Souls series.

Cuphead's soundtrack is tremendously popular, tops Billboard's charts

Cuphead's tunes become the first video game soundtrack to top Billboard's jazz charts.

Cuphead's soundtrack is tremendously popular, tops Billboard's charts

There's nothing quite like Cuphead. With hand-drawn animations straight out of a golden age cartoon, it's probably the most visually-striking indie on the market. But it'd lose a lot of magic without its soundtrack, and apparently jazz fans agree: The game's soundtrack is #1 on Billboard's jazz music charts for the week of September 14.

Cuphead is like time-travelling to the 1930s, when fast-tempo jazz and old-time piano notes invigorated smoke-hazy clubs. It's a unique and spellbinding journey, and the soundtrack really captures the authentic vibes of the period. Whether it's a slow meandering melody as you roam across the world map, or a pulse-racing xylophone beat punctuated by bombastic trumpets, the soundtrack is absolutely excellent and worth your time (and money).

Microsoft further obfuscates Xbox gaming earnings figures

Microsoft will now include services in with Xbox earnings, making it harder to discern specific revenue sources.

Microsoft further obfuscates Xbox gaming earnings figures

Microsoft is a service-first company. With a ton of subscriptions, monetization hooks, and engagement services, Xbox is now a service-first business and game sales are essentially ancillary to these recurring revenues sources. Every quarter we tackle Microsoft's Xbox earnings metrics, and soon it'll get more difficult to chart growth or loss. Right now Microsoft only reports two gaming metrics in its investor report slides: Xbox LIVE monthly active users and Xbox Gaming revenue. Soon even this will change.

Microsoft is notorious for withholding key data from consumers, investors, and analysts. For example, it stopped reporting total Xbox hardware sales a while back. Now it's going to lump in its billion-dollar services and subscriptions like Xbox LIVE, Xbox Game Pass, and soon Project xCloud with game and hardware sales. This also includes microtransactions. The new label is Xbox Content & Services Revenue Growth and will replace the current recorded revenue metrics.

Sony State of Play set for September 24, won't include PS5 news

Derek Strickland | Gaming | Sep 19, 2019 3:32 PM CDT

Sony today announced its next State of Play event will kick off September 24, 2019 at 4PM EST.

Sony State of Play set for September 24, won't include PS5 news

Sony's new State of Play showcase should highlight progress made on first-party games, but there won't be any news on the next-gen PlayStation 5. So what can we expect? New The Last of Us Part II info is guaranteed (possibly with its rumored February 2020 release date), and we'll likely get updates on Ghosts of Tsushima and maybe even some Death Stranding content. The show will last a brisk 20 minutes but it should 100% be focused on games without any filler.

The company teases some exciting reveals, too. We could see a confirmation of Insomniac's next game (probably Spider-Man 2) and maybe even a reveal of Guerrilla's next Horizon Zero dawn sequel. There's also rumors Sony Santa Monica is crafting the next God of War, too.

Steam ordered to allow digital game reselling in France

Derek Strickland | Gaming | Sep 19, 2019 2:25 PM CDT

French courts order Valve to allow game reselling on Steam, and order various terms of service agreements to be amended.

Steam ordered to allow digital game reselling in France

A new court order could change Steam's digital business forever, turning the one-sided marketplace into a free trade platform. A ruling from the District Court of Paris says Valve should allow resale of digital, dematerialized goods on its platform. The courts ruled in favor of UFC-Que Choisir, France's federal consumer-oriented force, who's been taking aim at Valve's storefront policies as far back as 2015.

The ruling states that Valve "can no longer oppose the resale of this copy (or copy) even if the initial purchase is made by downloading," a move that could upend Valve's storefront. Predictably, Valve currently prohibits the sale of games, and there's really no tangible way to do this besides selling an entire account tied to specific games. This is a violation of Steam's terms of service.

Epic Games Store is going big with free games

Derek Strickland | Gaming | Sep 19, 2019 1:17 PM CDT

Epic's free game selection is kicking it up this month with the entire Batman Arkham collection and Metro 2033.

Epic Games Store is going big with free games

When it comes to consumers, Epic has three major advantages over Steam: It gives out free games every month, Fortnite's massive numbers, and timed exclusives. The Epic Games Store has been dishing out indies and older titles for months since launch, but now it's starting to belt out some big goodies. In September, gamers can grab six Batman games including the Arkham trilogy and three LEGO games alongside Metro 2033.

Epic's gimmick is simple. The company wants to pull as many people over to the storefront as possible, and freebies are a great way to do that. The idea is to get people to download EGS for the free games and then maybe they'll stay for anti-Steam exclusives like Borderlands 3, Ghost Recon Breakpoint, or Control.
