SpyKiller 2005

Developer Homepage: SpyKiller

Download: SpyKiller (30 day trial)

Buy: SpyKiller ($29.95)

Our Rating: 5.5 out of 10

Our Summary: SpyKiller 2005 is the most basic Spyware remover inside this guide and you'd be silly to hand over money for this program when you can get much better for the same price.

As we wind our way along the road to the end we come to a basic Spyware remover program called SpyKiller 2005. The program claims it has the ability to detect up to almost 33,000 Spyware programs (which is far more than any of the others in this guide) and the good news is that in the two days we tried the program, both days provided us with a database update. The GUI kind of reminds you of a high school VB project however.

When we first load up SpyKiller 2005 we are greeted with the screen below. From here you can check for updates (no automatic scheduling available) and so on - nothing very special or note-worthy at all. To begin the scan, you choose the parts of the system you wish to include and then click the Scan Now button.

During the scan and when the scanning is complete you will see the screen above which keeps you posted on what Spyware has been found.

The final screen shows us a list of the Spyware which was found on your system along with basic information such as the name of the Spyware, location, threat level and the company. Unfortunately like RegFreeze, no descriptions are given about any of the Spyware and without handing over some cash you cannot clean your system of the found Spyware.

Overall - SpyKiller 2005 is the most basic Spyware remover program we looked at during our research. The good side of things for this program is that it's small - you have the ability to detect up to almost 33,000 Spyware programs but because this is such a larger number than any of the other Spyware remover programs we tried, we are a little hesitant to believe this but we could well be wrong. Apart from that, SpyKiller 2005 has nothing else going for it.

We are giving SpyKiller 2005 5.5 out of 10 - It is the most basic Spyware remover inside this guide and you'd be silly to hand over money for this program when you can get much better for the same price.
