ATI Catalyst 5.12 Performance Analysis (X1K Edition) - Benchmarks - High Quality AA and AF

Yesterday we looked at the performance of older of Radeon cards and today we check out the X1800XT with Catalyst 5.12!

High Quality AA and AF

In our High Quality tests we bump the Antialiasing (AA) and Anisotropic Filtering (AF) up causing the card(s) to be put under more load.

This usually helps us remove the CPU limitation. We use 4 x AA and 8 x AF as this is quite a common setup for most people who are venturing into the AA and AF area.

Moving to the first of our high quality tests we can see that the performance carries over to our AA and AF tests.

Far Cry also sees a good jump of almost 10FPS when turning the AA and AF on.

Quake 4 saw no performance change at all when AA and AF was turned on.
