ATI Catalyst 5.12 (December 2005) Performance Analysis - Benchmarks - High Quality AA and AF

The final ATI driver for 2005 is Catalyst 5.12 - we examine the performance as usual and find out if you should upgrade.

High Quality AA and AF

In our High Quality tests we bump the Antialiasing (AA) and Anisotropic Filtering (AF) up causing the card(s) to be put under more load.

This usually helps us remove the CPU limitation. We use 4 x AA and 8 x AF as this is quite a common setup for most people who are venturing into the AA and AF area.

Scores are extremely close with the old and new driver on all cards in 3DMark05 with AA and AF turned on.

The performance increase for Far Cry also carries over to the AA and AF tests but unfortunately only the X850XT offers a playable average of over 65FPS.

Performance is almost exactly the same here.
