Unlocking the Sapphire X800GTO² - 12 vs. 16 Pipe Adventure - Benchmarks - High Quality AA and AF

We've unlocked the Sapphire X800GTO˛ and increased the pixel pipelines to come in line with the more expensive X850XT.

High Quality AA and AF

In our High Quality tests we bump the Antialiasing (AA) and Anisotropic Filtering (AF) up causing the card(s) to be put under more load.

This usually helps us remove the CPU limitation. We use 4 x AA and 8 x AF as this is quite a common setup for most people who are venturing into the AA and AF area.

3DMark05 again shows us excellent performance when we turn on AA and AF.

Half Life 2 sees almost a 20% increase in performance with the extra pipelines enabled.

Doom 3 almost sees a 30% increase with the extra pipes. It really goes to show us that extra pipelines can make a big difference when the card is still clocked the same.
