ATI Radeon X800GT Head to Head - HIS vs. PowerColor - Benchmarks - High Quality AA and AF

In August we saw the introduction of ATI's Radeon X800GT which finally gave some competition to nVidia against their mighty mid-range GeForce 6600GT. Maybe the X800GT was a stop gap for ATI until their next-generation of cards is released but nevertheless the VPU is penetrating the market and we've got two new cards in the labs from HIS and PowerColor. Read on as we take a look at both graphics cards and work out which is best in this head to head battle!

High Quality AA and AF

In our High Quality tests we bump the Antialiasing (AA) and Anisotropic Filtering (AF) up causing the card(s) to be put under more load.

This usually helps us remove the CPU limitation. We use 4 x AA and 8 x AF as this is quite a common setup for most people who are venturing into the AA and AF area.

AA and AF enabled shows us again that the HIS card is ahead.

Moving to Half Life 2 we see that performance is extremely similar again between the two cards.

Doom 3 performance between both cards again is extremely similar when utilizing AA and AF.
