ATI Catalyst 5.9 Performance Analysis - Benchmarks - Far Cry

Yesterday ATI released their latest Catalyst driver for users of Radeon graphics cards. The new driver promises plenty of bug fixes but what about performance? Read on as we take a look at the new Catalyst 5.9 drivers compared against the pervious version to see if it's worth upgrading from a performance prospective. We'll be comparing the drivers on a Radeon X550, X700 and X850XT.

There is no denying that Far Cry is currently one of the most graphic intensive games on the market, utilizing PS2.0 technology (the latest versions support Shader Model 3.0 with DX9c) and offering an exceptional visual experience there is no denying that even some of the faster graphics cards struggle.

 

 

At the lower resolution the X550 sees a small increase while the X700PRO and X850XT are a little slower. The higher resolution gives similar results just not as large.
