ATI Catalyst 5.7 Performance Analysis - Final Thoughts

ATI's new Catalyst drivers have been out for over a week now and we've tested them in our usual fashion. Except from now on we aren't just catering for the high-end but for every market segment. Along with the Radeon X800 we're also including the Radeon X700 PRO and X300. This way all users will be able to get an idea about performance on each level of Radeon graphics cards. Read on and find out if it's worth upgrading to ATI's July Catalyst driver!

Final Thoughts

Unfortunately the new ATI Catalyst 5.7 drivers haven't done much in our tests in terms of performance increases but ATI have mentioned performance increases in their driver release notes. People who have just reformatted are going to find themselves installing the latest but the only other reason would be to fix their favorite game that has just come out, which is quite common.

For anyone who does play Comanche 4 or UT2004, please feel free to email us in regards to the performance increase promised along with the card as we would like to hear from personal experience with the latest driver upgrades which have been out for almost a week now.

Until the next driver release which should begin targeting Crossfire - Happy Benchmarking!

- ATI Catalyst drivers can be downloaded here from the ATI website and our ATI Catalyst driver installation guide is here which explains how to properly install and uninstall VGA drivers
