ATI Catalyst 5.1 Performance Analysis

This time we are up to version 5.1 and we compare against the two previous versions (4.11 and 4.12) in our usual array of benchmarks. Has ATI continued the trend and increased Half Life 2 performance? Read on and find out if these drivers are worth the upgrade!

Introduction

With a new year upon us we now have a new set of Catalyst drivers sitting in our download directory to test. With a new year we now have dived into the Catalyst 5 series and of course being the first month, it’s time to take a look at the new Catalyst 5.1 which was released by ATI today.

We will be testing the drivers the same we did last year using some of the more recent games to hit the market as well as our line of synthetic tests, to top it all off we will be placing the latest Catalyst series with some AA and AF tests.

Let’s have a quick look at what is to be expected from the latest drivers and get straight into the benchmarking.
