Today we are taking a look at two new Socket 939 chipsets for the AMD Athlon 64 platform from nVidia and ATI. Usually we would compare these two companies in the usual GPU wars but today they battle it out against each other in the form of motherboards with nVidia's feature-packed nForce 4 and ATI's 200 Series. 3DMark05 is the latest version in the popular 3DMark "Gamers Benchmark" series. It includes a complete set of DX9 benchmarks which tests Shader Model 2.0 and higher.

3DMark 05 again shows the nForce 4 is slightly quicker but the results are quite close to each other so its hard to call it a win for the nForce 4. With this said the results have been consistent throughout the entire 3DMark series.
