We check out and compare the performance of memory modules from Kingmax, Crucial, TwinMOS, Mushkin, Corsair and Kingston. If you are on the market for a new set of DDR-2 memory, you cannot miss this article.
Crucial as usual have used their standard brown box to ship the memory. Like Kingmax, Crucial don’t sell matched Dual Channel kits for the same reason. They manufacture their own memory and if you purchased some modules now and then three months down the track you shouldn’t have any problem running both modules in Dual Channel mode.
Crucial have always had quite a basic module and package yet it hasn’t stopped the US based company winning a number of awards on TweakTown over the years for impressive stability and performance. You shouldn’t let the plain packaging fool you.
- The Modules
Crucial have chosen to use the Micron chip funny enough, considering they are a Micron partner. While Micron isn’t usually as fast as offerings from Samsung, it is always 100% compatible and never has stability issues. It doesn’t seem to matter what we throw at the Crucial sticks they are always running 100% rock solid at default and that is one thing we can always count on from Crucial.
Again Crucial choose not to include heat spreaders and only up until recently have the started using heat spreaders for their Ballistix line of memory. It has taken many years though for the jump to happen. Again, don’t let the plain module fool you.
Signing up for a hosted IP PBX provider is just like signing up for cable TV; the provider is trying to lock you in to a long-term contract at terms that give them the most profit, while you're just trying to get the service and features you need at the lowest possible price. Plus, there are always hidden costs.
