Introduction

It has been two months since Intel brought us the I9xx series chipsets. The I915 and I925X chipsets are in part a first generation evolutionary product, which has now started to gain industry support, with many manufacturers starting to take on the new platform as a mainstream product, with various ways of implementing it.

The difference between I9xx and the I8xx chipsets is support for DDR-2, removing the AGP graphics port and adding in a PCI Express x16 slot as well as a new CPU layout known as LGA775 or as its been nicknamed Socket T (as Tejas was set to be the first CPU on this new platform).

Designed to bring high quality graphics interface, a faster and unified interface protocol in PCI Express as well as increase the potential of the Intel Pentium 4 processor, the I9xx series chipsets still have quite a bit to prove, and today we intend to see if it can prove what it claims on paper.

Today we have a massive roundup of motherboards based on the I915(P/G) and I925X chipsets from various motherboard vendors with various degrees of support and platform adoption. Today we intend to see who has what and your best choice as the consumer.
