Gigabyte Radeon X800PRO and X800XT PE Compared - Benchmarks - High Quality Real World Gaming

Shane has compared two new Radeon X800 graphics cards from Gigabyte today - the X800PRO and X800XT PE. We compare the cards against each other in our usual array of benchmarks except for the inclusion of Doom 3 at a range of different quality settings. Does Gigabyte have the answer for your X800 VGA needs? Read on and find out!

High Quality Real World Gaming

All tests were run with 6 times FSAA and 16 times Antistrophic Filtering enabled with the screen resolution set to 1024 X 768.

When running these aggressive detail settings in 1600 x 1200, games really do become unplayable and if people are after image quality they will have to drop the resolution back down to reach playable levels. 1024x768 was chosen as it is still the preferred playable resolution with these settings enabled.

Doom 3

With AA and AF maxed out you can clearly see that the X800XT PE is significantly faster then the X800 Pro. With a 15FPS difference between the cards, the low FPS rate on the X800XT PE isn't going to be as significant as the low FPS rate on the X800 Pro.

Unreal Tournament 2004

UT2K4 like in our non HQ tests show that both the cards are performing right next to each other.

Far Cry

Here in Far Cry we see a very similar picture as Doom 3 with the X800XT PE being a fair bit quicker. In the end this results to the XT PE giving greater smoothness across the board.
