Mega GPU Performance Comparison - The BIG BOYS come out to play - High Quality - Real World Gaming

Today we have something special for visual fans. We have collected six of the fastest, latest and greatest graphics cards currently on the market from nVidia and ATI including GeForce FX 5950 Ultra, 6800 Ultra AGP and PCI Express, Radeon 9800XT and the AGP versions of the X800PRO and X800XT PE. We cover each card briefly and then compare them all in our usual array of benchmarks. The BIG BOYS have come out to play!

High Quality - Real World Gaming

All tests were run with 8 times FSAA and 6 times Antistrophic Filtering enabled with the screen resolution set to 1024 X 768.

When running these aggressive detail settings in 1600 x 1200, games really do become unplayable and if people are after image quality they will have to drop the resolution back down to reach playable levels. 1024x768 was chosen as it is still the preferred playable resolution with these settings enabled.

- Unreal Tournament 2003

We see that the X800XT PE comes out ahead of the competition with the PCI Express 6800 Ultra 20 FPS behind. The performance is over double when comparing the 9800XT/5950 Ultra to the X800XT PE.

- Unreal Tournament 2004

Even with these settings we still run into CPU limitation, as you can see the 915/PCI Express combination is the quickest as we have seen in most of the CPU limited benchmarks.

- Far Cry

Even with AA and AF coming into play, the 6800's and X800XT are still CPU limited, we could probably even bump the resolution up to 1280 X 1024 and have a pretty smooth run.
