Pentium 4 moves house - New Socket and Platform surfaces from Intel - Benchmarks - SiSoft Sandra 2004

Last weekend Intel introduced a brand new range of products to the world for its Pentium 4 platform. With it comes a bunch of changes including the new LGA775 socket, DDR-II memory and PCI Express support along with two new chipsets and two new processors. SiSoft Sandra 2004

 

SiSoft Sandra (the System ANalyser, Diagnostic and Reporting Assistant) 2004 is a synthetic windows benchmark that features different tests used to evaluate different PC subsystems.

 

 

 

 

Here we can see that the DDR-2 SDRAM in its current form is still not quite ready to compete with DDR. However, when we start to see DDR scale beyond 667MHz and above we should see DDR-2 in its prime as DDR fails to match its speeds.
