ATI Radeon X800 Pro Group Comparison - ASUS, Power Color and GeCube - Benchmarks - Test System Setup and Synthetic Gaming

We've had a few new ATI Radeon X800 Pro graphics cards pass through our labs in the last month. While the performance of each is usually exactly the same, we thought it would be interesting to put together a group comparison of X800 Pro's from ASUS, Power Color and GeCube and take a look at the cards and their packages, not to forget the benchmark numbers.

Test System Setup

Processor(s): AMD Athlon 64 3400+

Video card(s): Gigabyte nVidia nForce 3 250GB (Supplied by Gigabyte)

Memory: 1 x 512MB Kingmax PC4000 (Supplied by Kingmax)

Hard Disk(s): Western Digital Raptor 74GB 10,000 RPM (Supplied by Western Digital)

Operating System: Windows XP Professional SP1

Our main focus in this review is the package of each X800 Pro. However, we could hardly compare the packages and leave the performance numbers out.

The results are all very similar since the cards all use the same GPU.

3DMark 2001 SE

3DMark2001 SE is a part of the popular 3DMark series. By combining DirectX 8.1 support with completely new graphics (including the GeForce4), it continues to provide benchmark results that empower you to make informed hardware assessments.

Performance is so close and 3DMark 2001 really has that fluctuation of a few hundred points which basically makes the cards exactly the same.

3DMark 2003

3DMark03 is the latest installment in the popular 3DMark series. By combining DirectX 9 support with completely new graphics (including the GeForce FX and ATI Radeon 9800), it continues to provide benchmark results that empower you to make informed hardware assessments.

Please Note: Due to recent events with the 3DMark03 series, we are adding results purely for those who are still in favor of 3DMark03. These results should not be taken too seriously and are only added for interest sakes.

3DMark 2003 shows a similar picture with all the cards neck and neck.

Aquamark 3

Aquamark3 is the latest installment of the Aquamark benchmark suite. This new benchmark is much more powerful and demands much more from both the system and the graphics card. If there is any weakness in the system or 3D components, Aquamark3 will find them.

Again the results are very close to each other but it does seem that the GeCube and Power Color are always just that little bit in front of the ASUS card.
