Introduction

The AMD Athlon 64 is the latest and greatest piece of hardware to hit the market and where would a new processor be without a chipset? The answer is easy, not very far at all. With the release of the Athlon 64 processor we see VIA and nVidia battling it out early in the game. Come forward a few months we now have ALI and SIS joining the party and thanks to these chipsets, we now have a choice between four different companies to accompany the newest speedy 64-bit processor platform.

ALI and SIS both popped into the Athlon 64 market quietly while VIA and nVidia both made themselves known, as you would expect. Not a lot of information can be found around the Internet traps on the brand spankin’ new ALI and SIS chipsets and today we intend to find out just what the story is as far as performance and features go.

Let’s see what the chipset giants ALI, SIS, VIA and nVidia have for us in the Athlon 64 department!
