Quake 3

Quake III Arena is a real-world OpenGL benchmark that we have been using here at TweakTown for quite a while now because it has proven itself to be one of the best gaming benchmarks around to compare a wide range of different products. Quake III is getting very old, but is still one of the best ways of testing video and PC systems for any instabilities and best performance.

We used the standard demo001 timedemo.

- 640 X 480

nVidia take a huge hit here with it clearly being far back; VIA continue to pass the SIS and the ALI chipsets with ease.

- 1280 X 1024

Just like above the nVidia chipset is really struggling to keep up with the others when it comes to the older Quake 3 benchmark. VIA take a clean 10 FPS win over the SIS which is in second place.
