The latest 64-bit Athlon processors may just be around the corner but in no way does that mean that Athlon XP users arent going to need a cooler for their processors now and a little further more into the future. The release of the Athlon 64 and FX is going to help bring down prices on the current XP line of processors and is going to give older Duron users the chance to upgrade without breaking their budget.
Just today the NDA was lifted on a new CoolerMaster heatsink fan, the Jet 7, and it was time to see how it went up against some of the other competition on the market. Today we are going to be looking at the two latest CoolerMaster heatsinks as well as two of the latest heatsinks from ThermalTake.
All the coolers we are looking at today are designed to cool your processor differently. If it be by a weird looking fan or an improvement to the traditional design to help quiet it down yet keep performance up. In the past only a few things determined a good cooler, how much copper it had and how much air the fan pushed. This would create a heavy, loud and expensive cooler. Thanks to the advancements in cooler technology over the past 12 months, we see companies doing so much more. Today we will see just how much more and if these new designs help keep our processor cooler or not.
