Gigabyte's Maya Radeon 9700 Pro and 9000 Look - Benchmarks - Direct3D

It is always good to have choice. Up until ATI released its Radeon 8500, many users wanting powerful computer systems were forced to look for nVidia based graphics solutions. Fortunately for us, ATI hit back hard with their Radeon 9xxx series of graphics cards which presented us with new choices and happily opened the market right up. Gigabyte were one company which went along with ATI and Cameron "Sov" Johnson takes us on a discovery of both of the latest Maya series graphics cards based on ATI's Radeon 9700 Pro and 9000 cores!

Real-World Direct3D Benchmarks

Max Payne

Max Payne is a new generation DirectX 7/8 game. This game is based on Hardware T&L advancements as well as many other features of the Intel Pentium 4 and Athlon XP.

When pushing the 1600x1200 envelope, ATI power is unbeatable, again.

Aquanox

Aquanox is the latest instalment of our benchmark software. This game is based heavily on DirectX 8 and 8.1 advancements and is designed to stress video cards to their ultimate limit, in all the best D3D benchmark to date.

Aquanox takes a lot of power to run in just normal 1024x768 mode, but to run it up to 1600x1200 mode you need the power of ATI behind you, Gigabyte have put this power to extremely good use.

DroneZmark

DroneZmark is based on the popular DroneZ game engine. DroneZmark incorporates a looping demo and execution engine to test your system performance

In DroneZmark, the power of the 3D card isn't utilised as much so we see the Radeon not score too super huge a gap over the nVidia card.
