Abit Siluro Ti4200 vs. Triplex Millennium Ti4200

Features of the Triplex Millennium Ti4200

- Package Contents

The Triplex Millennium Ti4200 comes bundled with a driver CD, User's Manual, an S-Video to Composite converter and a Composite extension cable. I was quite disappointed at the lack of a DVI-to-VGA converter as those of you who plan on running dual VGA displays will have to go out and purchase one separately.

However, making up for this downside are two full version games that allow you to harness the true gaming power of your shiny new GeForce4 straight out of the box. The two games are Spiderman and Severence: Blade of Darkness, both of which are relatively new and from what i've seen/heard, quite enjoyable as well.

- The Card

A major feature that Triplex boasts with the Millennium Ti4200 is that it is the first graphics card to feature a silver PCB. Triplex also go as far as saying that the silver coating can reduce your card's temperature by up to 15%. From our internal testing, we noticed a negligible difference in temperature between the Abit Siluro Ti4200 and Triplex's card. The decision to purchase Triplex's card because of its silver PCB should be based purely on aesthetics - nothing else. Adding to the attractiveness of the card is a silver heatsink/fan unit and silver memory heatsinks.

The Triplex Millennium Ti4200 is packed with 128MB Samsung memory rated at 4ns. As you will see from our testing, the extra 64MB provides a negligible performance increase in current games, however, as time goes on we are sure to see more and more games make use of the extra memory.

Like the Abit card, the Triplex Ti4200 features both TV-out and DVI-out. However, Triplex have decided to use the Conexant CX25871-14 controller for their TV-out. During testing we found that both controllers performed quite well, however, the Phillips controller on the Abit card produced a slightly crisper image.
