To test the pad, I fired up an internet game of my favourite First Person Shooter, Counter-Strike. This is a very good benchmark for the pad because it requires rapid movements and killer accuracy. I found that moving my mouse around the pad was very smooth and easy. My mouse moved a lot quicker across the pad than it does with my Everglide Giganta, which can be both a pro and a con, depending on who you are. I prefer the gaming mat's surface because I like to play games with a very high mouse sensitivity (15.3 in Counter-Strike), and the added speed is always welcome. I was a little sceptical about this pad at first, due to its light weight and flexibility. However, I found that even while playing an intense round of Counter-Strike, the pad stayed flat on the table the whole time. This was a huge relief because it is a real annoyance when you are in the middle of a battle and the mouse pad slides around the table, moving your crosshair way off target.
I also found that the pad was very comfortable to use. This is because it is quite thin and doesn't raise your hand too far off the desk. Admittedly, it did take a while to get used to as I have been using an Everglide Giganta pad for the past few years which sits a lot higher than the Gaming Mat.
